A North Battleford man is being charged after fleeing from police.

Battlefords RCMP received a report of a robbery on May 2 around 11:45 p.m.

After investigating police determined two people approached a home, threatened the occupants, and stole a set of keys

Officers immediately responded and located the suspects driving on 101 Street in North Battleford. Police activated their emergency lights and attempted a traffic stop, but the vehicle didn’t pull over.

Shortly after, the vehicle passed a patrolling unmarked police vehicle in an intersection. After allegedly seeing the police vehicle that didn’t have its emergency lights activated, the suspect vehicle fled at a high rate of speed. It collided with another vehicle at the intersection of 103 Street and 15 Avenue. The driver of the other vehicle suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers arrested the passenger of the suspect vehicle at the location of the collision. The driver fled on foot but was arrested a short time later with help from the Saskatchewan RCMP Police Dog Services.

After investigating, police found and seized bear spray, a baton, and brass knuckles.

Tyson Mosquito, 33, from North Battleford, is charged with unauthorized possession of a restricted weapon; possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose; resisting/obstructing a peace officer; flight from a peace officer; dangerous operation of a motor vehicle; carrying a concealed weapon; weapons possession contrary to order and failing to surrender authorization; possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle; common nuisance – endangering lives of the public.

He’s scheduled to appear in North Battleford Provincial Court on May 8.

The passenger was released without charges.
