RCMP charge Onion Lake man with forcible confinement, discharging firearm at person

Onion Lake RCMP are charging a 26-year-old man after allegedly discharging a firearm at another person.

Around 8 p.m. on Mar. 31, officers were called to a home on Onion Lake First Nation.

During the investigation, officers determined that a man had forced another person inside the home before shooting at them. RCMP didn’t specify whether this was intentional or accidental.

The victim didn’t appear to suffer any injuries.

Burton Lewis was eventually arrested at the home. Officers later found three firearms on the property.

Lewis has since been charged with reckless discharge of a firearm, pointing a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, uttering threats, and forcible confinement.

He was scheduled to appear in a Lloydminster courtroom on Apr. 3, 2023.
