An investigation this month by Saskatchewan RCMP has resulted in several people being arrested and the seizure of drugs, guns and ammunition.

On March 15, Spiritwood RCMP was asked to assist a partner agency at Witchekan Lake First Nation. Officers saw three men in the home, all known to be on warrants.

Melvin Starblanket, Eric Stevens and Leon Chamakese were soon after arrested.

Starblanket, from Spiritwood, is charged with failing to comply with a release order and he had an outstanding warrant from the Prince Albert Police Service.

Stevens, from Regina, is facing a number of gun-related charges and also had outstanding warrants from the Regina Police Service.

Chamakese in turn was arrested on warrants from Prince Albert RCMP, Ahtahkakoop RCMP, and Regina Police Service.

As a result of the investigation, officers found and seized approximately 26 grams of methamphetamine, a semi-automatic firearm, a sawed-off firearm, approximately 150 rounds of ammunition, numerous knives and trafficking paraphernalia.

A woman was also arrested but her name has not been released. The police investigation continues.
