RCMP looking for help to locate the owner of collectible coins and a pocket watch

Nov 25, 2022 | 1:52 PM

Loon Lake RCMP is looking for help. They’re trying to track down the owner of an antique pocket watch and a coin collection.

The items were seized as a result of an investigation from March 2020. That investigation saw 11 people charged with several offences and the seizure of several firearms, narcotics, and what it believed to be stolen property. RCMP is hoping to find the coin collection and pocket watch owner. Now they’re hoping the public can help them find the rightful owner by releasing a photo of the pocket watch.

Police describe the collection of property as unique. It includes:

  • A significant collection of Canadian coins, including Royal Canadian Mint collector sets. Many of these coins appear to be from the 1980s, with some more recent special edition silver dollars.
  • A collector’s set of British coins, which appear to be antique.
  • A silver Montauk pocket watch that appears to be antique.

The pocket watch contains a written inscription blurred out in the released photo. RCMP hopes the owner can claim the belongings by identifying the inscription. Similarly, the RCMP are not releasing more detailed descriptions or photos of the coins, so they can also use that information to validate ownership.

Anyone with information can call Loon Lake RCMP at 306-837-2440 or Saskatchewan Crimestoppers.
