North West College (NWC) has found a new vice president.

The post-secondary institution announced Wednesday that Dr. Priscilla Lothian will fulfill the academic position starting immediately. President and CEO, Dr. Eli Ahlquist, spoke to her time in academia in a media release.

“Priscilla brings 36 plus years of post-secondary experience in various leadership roles across multiple provinces and in the United States to North West College,” he said.

Lothian was most recently the director of student services at Keyano College in Alberta, where Ahlquist was prior to his appointment at North West.

Lothian previously served as an academic chair within the School of Health & Human Services where she oversaw programming that ranged from social work to early learning and childcare.

“Her experience leading numerous strategic initiatives that resulted in programming expansions through international student recruitment, dual credit leaning for high school students, apprenticeship style learning, and the establishment of six micro-credentials will be very beneficial to NWC’s future.” Ahlquist said.

The new vice president recently completed Early Childhood Studies at Ryerson Polytechnic University in Toronto, Ont. She went on to complete her master’s in Early Childhood Education from Concordia University, St Paul, Minn., as well as a concurrent graduate degrees completing a doctor of education (EdD) and education specialist (EdS) in Higher Education Leadership from National Louis University in Illinois.

“I am thrilled with the new opportunity and look forward to getting to know and work with the North West College students and staff, as well as learning more about the Battleford and Meadow Lake communities and surrounding regions,” Lothian added in the release.

The Board of Governors for NWC also welcomed her to the North West region.
