Studies show UFO sightings rising in Sask. and Canada

Aug 11, 2022 | 4:00 PM

Unidentified flying objects, or UFOs for short, have been spotted in Canada ever since the country was founded over 150 years ago.

According to Fana Colette of casinosource.ca, thousands of sightings have been reported across the nation with reports of UFOs nearly doubling in the last few years.

Experts in Canadian ufology have said that after the 2020 pandemic there was an increase in sightings, but they had recorded a rise even before that in 2017.

In Saskatchewan however, the number of sightings has stayed consistent but have risen slightly.

The year 2020 was one of the highest years for sightings in the province, with the majority being recorded in either Saskatoon or Regina, although other communities with reported sightings included Prince Albert and Star City.

Since 1989, the province has reported no more than 40 sightings per year, among the lowest numbers in the country. With more than 20,000 sightings having been reported in the last 33 years, where does Saskatchewan sit among the other provinces and territories in terms of UFO sightings?

According to the most recent Canadian UFO Survey, in 2020, Saskatchewan had 35 UFO sightings, which was among the lowest numbers in the country ahead of Prince Edward Island (25), Newfoundland and Labrador (13), Northwest Territories (one), Nunavut (one), and Yukon (0).

As for who had the most, Ontario took the title of Canada’s UFO capital province.

Canada’s most populated province reported 373 sightings in 2020, ranking just ahead of Quebec who ranked second with 298. Behind them was B.C. who ranked third with 211, while Alberta (149), Nova Scotia (55), Manitoba (42), and New Brunswick (40) followed behind B.C., but ahead of Saskatchewan.
