Break-in investigation leads to pursuit, arrest

A North Battleford man was arrested in Alberta, following a pursuit involving multiple police detachments.

On Tuesday afternoon, Maidstone RCMP responded to a break and enter call in the RM of Wilton, south of Lloydminster. An unknown number of suspects were reported to be traveling in a black car that was last seen traveling into the City of Lloydminster after leaving the property.

Another suspect was reported to be operating a side-by-side utility vehicle, which was found abandoned and damaged in a swamp in the same area, where the suspect continued on foot. The continued investigation determined the vehicle was reported stolen out of the Vermilion, Alberta area.

In addition to Maidstone RCMP, officers from the Kitscoty and Vermilion detachments (Alberta jurisdiction) secured the immediate area. Additional assistance was provided by the Lloydminster Rescue Squad and Cold Lake RCMP (AB) Police Dog Services helped with the search, arresting one man almost four hours after the original call.

As a result of the investigation, 38-year-old Reagan Racette from North Battleford is charged with breaking and entering, fleeing police, and possession of stolen property. There were also outstanding warrants for his arrest out of the Kitscoty RCMP and Cut Knife detachments for separate investigations of breaking and entering, theft and trespassing.

Racette will appear in North Battleford Provincial Court later today.
