Children’s festival planned for Saturday in North Battleford

Jul 6, 2022 | 8:00 AM

The wave of new and returning events in the Battlefords continues on Saturday.

Kids Fest, a free children’s festival, is set for the afternoon with a variety of activities for families to participate in at Library Park. It’s being sponsored by the Baha’i Community of North Battleford.

Fraser Glen, one of the organizers, said it’s part of an effort to grow positivity in the community.

“It’s just about children and families building a better community,” he said. “That’s the theme, it’s a positive message.”

Some of Kids Fest’s features include arts, music, drumming, clowns, juggling, and more.

Glen added that they don’t have an expectation of attendance but are hoping to see at least 50-100 people. So far, public events have been well attended in the Battlefords, with large turnouts at gatherings like the Indigenous People’s Day Powwow at the WDM Museum.

After they set up at 1:00 p.m., the festival will run from 2:00-5:00 p.m. Glen explained they also have a backup plan to move the festival to the library if it rains.

“The Library and City are both good to go with it, so we have options if there’s any weather conditions to deal with,” he said.

The forecast from Environment Canada currently says there’s a chance of showers throughout the day.
