RCMP Report Part 1: Missing persons, more break-ins

Jun 9, 2022 | 3:00 PM

UPDATE: As of approximately 4:30 p.m. on June 9, both Kyle Pritchard and Jennifer Fitch have been located in North Battleford by the RCMP. The detachment thanks everyone for their assistance.

There are multiple missing persons cases active in the Battlefords.

The RCMP are asking the public to be on the lookout for 17-year-old Kyle Pritchard, who was reported missing in the afternoon on June 2. He was reportedly last seen on the 900 block of 110th Street in North Battleford.

Sgt. Neil Tremblay said the detachment has had some conversations with Pritchard on the phone and believe he’s in Saskatoon. However, his whereabouts haven’t been confirmed.

“We’re hoping that he’ll verify where he is with Saskatoon police,” Tremblay said.

“There’s not a lot of concern there, as it might be some miscommunication between family members. We just need to make sure that he’s safe due to his age.”

Police are also trying to locate 40-year-old Jennifer Fitch. She was reported missing Monday evening and last seen on 900 block of 102nd Street earlier that day.

Fitch described as thin, around 160 cm tall and weighing about 50 kg. She has green eyes, wears glasses and has medium length brown hair. She was last seen wearing blue jeans, white flip flops and a black windbreaker.

“She had returned home at some point, but since then we haven’t determined where she is,” Tremblay said.

Additionally, 15-year-old Ryder Checkosis and 24-year-old Tracy Wright remain missing. Tremblay said they’ve received unsubstantiated reports that Wright was seen in the City of North Battleford.

Break and enter investigations

Break-ins remain an issue that Battlefords RCMP are investigating weekly.

“Between businesses, sheds, garages and the odd residence, it’s been steady,” Tremblay said. “It’s difficult to say, whether we’re talking one small group or a lot of different people.”

Items taken in most incidents have also fallen into familiar categories, though Tremblay noted they could simply be more visible than others.

“Things like lawn tools and power tools are often hard to trace and easy to turn over for cash,” he said.

He also recommended people keep an eye out for anything that looks suspicious.

“These break-ins are mostly happening at night, but some are in broad daylight,” he said.

One break and enter that was in progress on June 2 resulted in two arrests. The 29- and 24-year-old women were breaking in to a residence on the 1100 block of 106th Street.

Both have been released to appear in court on Aug. 22, on charges of breaking and entering and failing to comply with a release order, while the 24-year-old also faces obstruction. Tremblay said they have not been connected to any other incident.

Some of the break and enters include:

  • A residence at Delorme Beach during Tuesday afternoon. Several items reported missing including a paddleboard, clothing, lanterns and a mirror;
  • A business on Railway Avenue South on June 4 to early June 5. Several power tools reported stolen;
  • A business very early on Monday morning on the 1300 block of 100th Street. Cash and other property reported stolen;
  • A residence on the 2000 block of 95th Street on June 4. Tools reported stolen;
  • A garage on the 1500 block of 92nd Street on June 4. Garden tools and a tool box reported stolen;
  • A garage on the 1500 block of 94th Street on June 5, believed to have occurred the previous day. Bicycle and meat reported stolen.

Anyone with information on any incident is urged to call the Battlefords RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
