RCMP Report Pt. 1: Kildeer investigation continues, woman missing

May 11, 2022 | 11:57 AM

Update: Jessica Fox has been found.

Battlefords RCMP are holding off on an update on the Kildeer Drive incident from Sunday until the investigation is complete.

That afternoon, police responded to an armed and barricaded person complaint in the North Battleford neighbourhood and alerted to public to avoid the area until the matter was resolved. After roughly four hours, the subject was taken into custody shortly after 6:30 p.m. One subject was taken into custody. The matter remains under investigation, and a further update will be made once a determination on charges has been finalized.

Sgt. Neil Tremblay told battlefordsNOW that the investigation is largely done, but other considerations are involved in discerning between what’s criminal and what’s being done under the Mental Health Act.

“Once there’s some care being given to the subject, we’re just reviewing some matter with the Crown and then a decision on charges will be made,” he said.

Missing woman

The detachment is asking the public to assist in their search for 19-year-old Jessica Fox of North Battleford.

The missing woman was last seen Monday evening on 108th Street. It is believed Fox is somewhere in the City, but she is also known to frequent the Cut Knife area.

“She has a lot of family and friends locally,” Sgt. Neil Tremblay said.

Fox is described as being about 5’7”, 180lbs, with brown eyes and long brown hair. She was last seen wearing a black hoodie and grey sweat pants with white and red high top shoes.

Anyone with information on her whereabouts can contact the Battlefords RCMP detachment, 310-RCMP or Crime Stoppers. This only active investigation from the seven reports the detachment received in the latest service period.

Additionally, Battlefords RCMP have located 40-year-old-Tanya Armstrong. She was reported as last seen on April 28 before going missing and was believed to be in Prince Albert last week.

Break-ins, thefts

The detachment had nine break and enter investigations, including one with an arrest.

Following a call regarding an apartment on 111th St. on May 5, members found a male sleeping inside the residence. The 46-year-old man was arrested without incident and faces one count of break and enter.

Police are also looking into a break and enter to a garage on the 100 block of 26th St. in Battleford, which occurred either Saturday evening or Sunday morning. Tremblay said tools and a generator were reported stolen, so they’re hoping someone in the area may have security footage.

“[Generators] are usually around the size of an air conditioner,” he said. “Not super small or easy to carry, so you’d likely need to have a vehicle nearby to have made off with it.”

A residence on the Moosomin First Nation was also broken into on either Friday evening or early Saturday morning, with a stereo reported stolen. A currently vacant home on 98th St. was also broken into sometime Saturday morning.

Of the eight vehicle theft investigations from the week, one remains ongoing for a black 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee. It has a Saskatchewan License plate of 817-MAN and it was reported stolen from Poplar Crescent in Aquadeo Sunday evening.

Other calls for the detachment include 14 mental health investigations, 69 various traffic charges, four traffic collisions, two individuals charged with impaired driving and six fraud investigations.

Anyone with information on any incident can call the Battlefords RCMP detachment, 310-RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
