Man arrested for weapons transfer, false report

An Alberta man was arrested on multiple weapons charges related to an incident on Sweetgrass First Nation.

Back in March, Battlefords RCMP received a report of firearms being stolen from a residence on Sweetgrass, which led to an investigation that the Battlefords General Investigation Section (GIS) and the National Weapons Enforcement Support Team (NWEST). They determined the man who made the report to police provided false information.

Following further investigation, 36-year-old Dustin Clark of Westerose, Alta. was arrested on April 14. He’s charged with:

  • Transferring a firearm knowing that he was not authorized to do so;
  • Transferring a restricted weapon knowing that he was not authorized to do so;
  • While being the holder of an authorization under which he was entitled to possess a restricted weapon, having it in his possession at a place other than the place where he was entitled to possess it as indicated in the authorization;
  • Knowingly make a false report concerning the theft of a restricted weapon.

Clark appears in North Battleford Provincial Court on May 16.
