Multiple robberies under investigation in the Battlefords

Mar 8, 2022 | 11:02 AM

Battlefords RCMP are investigating two robberies that occurred Monday evening.

Shortly after 6:00 p.m. yesterday. A man walking in the area of 107th Street and 11th Avenue in Battleford was approached by two males in theirs 20’s driving a pickup. They demanded the victim torn his valuables and threatened him, though no weapons were displayed, and made off with some personal property of his.

A second report came after 9:00 p.m., stating that two men in a pickup pulled up to another lone male walking around the 700 block of 105th Street somewhere between 6:00–7:00 p.m. This time, they displayed a pistol while demanding valuables and fled after some property was turned over.

Neither victim was harmed, both describing a two tone, possibly grey and brown or white and brown pickup, with a broken back passenger window taped up with cardboard. Both suspects also described the suspects as two males in their 20s.

“At this point, these are the only two [incidents] that we think involve the same two people,” Sgt. Neil Tremblay told battlefordsNOW. “They were reportedly wearing masks and we didn’t get any other details.”

Tremblay added that they are continuing to investigate. The detachment is urging anyone with information on either incident to contact them and if they come across the truck, to stay away and call the detachment immediately.

“Assume that there might be a firearm involved,” Tremblay said. “The damage on the vehicle should be quite obvious, so if you see a vehicle fitting that description and can see a plate, call us right away and let us know where.”

Several incidents from the previous two weeks are still under investigation as well. A pair of business break-ins on Feb. 23 had a similar description for the suspect’s vehicle and a business break and enter on March involved two suspects that have images available online.

Residents with information on any incident can call their local detachment at 310-RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
