Woman arrested in Maidstone for drug possession, vehicles stolen

Mar 4, 2022 | 3:00 PM

Regional police detachments remained busy this week, which included arrests, drug seizures and more stolen vehicles.

Maidstone RCMP arrested a woman on Sunday, following a foot chase through the snow. Members came upon two vehicles stuck in the ditch at the entrance of the town. Three people were attempting to dig the vehicles out when one of them fled on foot and officers eventually arrested her on Sixth Avenue. When searching her, the members seized six ounces of suspected methamphetamine.

Twenty-four-year-old Louisa Simpson of Lloydminster is charged with obstructing a police officer and possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking. She appeared in court on March 2 and was released from custody. Her next appearance is in North Battleford Provincial Court on April 4.

Theft of Truck and Trailer

Glaslyn RCMP received a complaint of a stolen truck and trailer from the RM of Parkdale earlier today. The truck is a 2019 black Ford F-150 (Sask License SKGOOSE) and the trailer is a 2019 black PJ trailer (Sask License 964-LJP). The pair were taken sometime after midnight.

Stolen vehicles remain a constant challenge for police during winter temperatures. The Battlefords RCMP detachment had three stolen vehicles reported on Wednesday with several taken in the previous week.

Anyone with information related to any incident can call their local detachment, 310-RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
