North Battleford apartment building engulfed in fire

Police and fire crews responded to a fire at an apartment building in North Battleford early Monday morning, which may be suspicious in nature.

At around 1:25 a.m., Battlefords RCMP was called to the scene on the 1400 block of 102nd St.

Upon arrival, officers found the building fully engulfed in fire. Multiple local fire departments and EMS joined the North Battleford crews in responding to the incident.

Residents evacuated the building, including several that were taken to hospital with injuries. One social media video of the scene shows people being helped down from windows. Updates on their conditions are currently unavailable.

Battlefords RCMP is currently working to confirm the safety of everyone residing in the building. Anyone living in the complex who has not yet spoken to police is asked to call 310-RCMP.

Further details are not yet available, the investigation is unfolding, however, police believe the fire may be suspicious in nature. Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency fire investigators are now assisting.
