Dekker Centre fall season of shows announced

The Dekker Centre is thrilled to announce it is opening up for its fall season of shows.

The line up for September to December includes several events, including an acoustic music session later this month to kick things off.

The fall productions are all comprised of Saskatchewan- based artists.

“We’re keeping our talent local to our province. That helps to mitigate the risk of people travelling far distances,” general manager Kali Weber told battlefordsNOW. “We’re just doing one show a month, starting out slow, seeing what the uptake is.”

Weber says by only having four shows lined up, the theatre won’t have a full year of productions to potentially have to postpone or cancel in the event COVID-19 restrictions may be implemented in the future.

Shows for the winter and spring season will be announced later this year.

Weber says safety remains top of mind.

“We’ve made some decisions about our fall programing to try and keep everybody as safe as possible,” she said.

That includes a decision to temporarily mandate masking for all events they sell tickets for.

Four shows for fall season

The fall season line-up features duo Munro and Patrick, Chris Henderson, and Jack Semple who will perform in the Acoustic Sessions show Sept. 24.

Then, on Oct. 16, PPL R PPL Productions presents a musical theatre performance called “[Title of the Show]” – a witty piece about two guys writing a musical.

On Nov. 6, the Prairie Lilies presents: A Saskatchewan Country Music Songwriters Circle, featuring several of the province’s top performers: Brock Andrews, Jordyn Pollard, Codie Prevost, Donny Parenteau and Brody Siebert.

The season finishes with A Dramatic Reading of The Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. This event will feature local celebrities and actors, as well as music by The Community Youth Choir. The show is being produced by Jim Walls. The Dekker Centre says this event will be a highlight of the season.

The Dekker Centre will also still offer live-streaming for as many shows as possible.

“Patrons who prefer to watch virtually will still be able to do that,” Weber said.
