RCMP reiterate 24/7 commitment to communities and public health

The Saskatchewan RCMP says it may be holiday season but they remain committed to the public’s safety 24/7 and will also continue to respond to incidents where COVID-19 orders are being violated.

RCMP said community health and safety is a shared responsibility, which is why the Saskatchewan RCMP and its northern detachments including Meadow Lake, Prince Albert, Lac La Ronge are working closely in collaboration with local public health officials including the Northern Inter-Tribal Health Authority (NITHA).

In a media release the RCMP said as police officers, they are responsible for ensuring their actions do not put others at risk while doing their part to slow the spread of the virus.

“We need you to do the same and this starts by following and staying informed of the new provincial Public Health Orders that are in place, “ the release stated.

“As Saskatchewan’s provincial police force, we will continue to be present in your community to provide services and help to ensure community safety 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and throughout the holiday season,” says Supt. Ted Munro, of the Saskatchewan RCMP’s North District Management Team. “We continue to work closely with health officials including NITHA to investigate calls for service that violate the PHO to help maintain public health and safety.”
