City plans for 100 Street service road improvements this fall

The City of North Battleford is getting ready to make improvements to the service road at the north end of 100 St.

The work will run from 20 Ave. to the mall access.

A large chunk of the cost will be covered by the province’s Municipal Economic Enhancement Program (MEEP).

Mayor Ryan Bater is excited to see the work get underway.

“It will be done this fall, so we are looking forward to that project moving forward,” he said.

The city previously tendered its annual capital work underground utilities and roadways contracts in the spring and awarded the contracts to the respective low bidders.

According to the city, when the MEEP funding for the 100 Street service road project was approved, the city requested pricing and schedule information from the contractors to complete the work as an addition to the Capital Works contracts.

The full cost of the project is estimated at $746,910. For the underground utilities work the estimated cost from Sanburn Construction is $180,365. For the roadways work, the estimated cost from G and C Asphalt a division of N.P.A Ltd is $566,544.

The province’s Municipal Economic Enhancement Program is partially funding the project, with a contribution of $607,472. The city will cover the estimated $139,438 remainder of the cost.

The underground work for the project is expected to be completed for Sept. 15, while the portion of the roadway should be finished by Oct. 15.
