Provincial COVID total at 1,376 with eight new cases

There are eight new cases of COVID-19 to report in the province on Aug. 5, bringing the total to 1,376 cases.

Of the new cases, there are three in the North East, two in the Saskatoon region, two in the Regina region and one in the Central West region. There are new geographical areas in the mapping the province now uses.

Of the total cases, 225 are considered active. There have been 1,133 recoveries.

There are 15 people in hospital. Seven people are receiving inpatient care, with three in Saskatoon, two in the South West region, one in the Central East region and one in Regina. Eight people are in the intensive care unit with five in Saskatoon, two in Regina and one in the North Central region.

Of the 1,376 cases, 205 are travellers, 703 are community contacts, including mass gatherings, 358 have no known exposures and 110 are under investigation by local public heath.

Across the province, 64 cases are healthcare workers (although not all sourced their infections from work), 352 are from the far north zone (346 far north west, 0 far north central, six far north east).

There are 294 cases from the south zone with 149 in the south west, 134 from the south central, 11 from the south east. There are 217 cases from the Saskatoon zone, and 226 cases from the north zone (98 north west, 63 north central, 65 north east). There are 187 cases from the central zone (159 central west, 28 central east) and 100 cases from the Regina zone.

There are 213 cases involving people aged 19 and under. The remainder are adults.

Of the total cases, 439 are in the 20 to 39 age range, 432 are in the 40 to 59 age range, 242 are in the 60 to 79 age range and 50 are in the 80-plus age range.

Fifty per cent of cases are females and 50 per cent are males.

There have been 18 deaths related to COVID-19 reported to date.

To date there have been 105,065 COVID-19 tests performed in the province, with 786 tests performed yesterday.

Testing is now available to anyone who requests it, regardless of whether symptoms of the virus are present.
