15-year-old girl struck by vehicle in Debden, dies in hospital

RCMP said a 17-year-old boy was behind the wheel of a car that struck a 15-year-old girl in the Village of Debden.

The incident happened Tuesday at approximately 3:30 a.m., the girl was walking along Second Ave. W. when she was struck by the vehicle. In addition to members from Big River RCMP, STARS air ambulance, and Big River EMS also attended the scene.

The victim was transported to hospital for treatment of serious, life-threatening injuries. She later succumbed to her injuries and passed away.

The investigation is ongoing by the Big River RCMP with the assistance of an RCMP Forensic Reconstructionist.

The Village of Debden is located roughly 50 km northwest of Shellbrook.
