Mayor reminds residents to follow street cleaning rules
North Battleford Mayor Ryan Bater is reiterating his message from a week ago for residents to move their vehicles during restricted parking periods to avoid getting a ticket.
The city initially avoided handing out tickets, due to an increased number of people stranded at home because of the COVID-19 pandemic. With spring fully underway, there’s a limited window to protect against damage to the storm drainage system, Bater said.
“Now we actually have work to do on those streets, we have to clean the debris off, and we can’t do that if there’s a car on it,” he said. “So, we do need people to adhere to the parking restrictions.”
In addition to morning radio reminders, residents can visit the city’s website to find out when their neighbourhood cleaning is scheduled. There are three waves at 3 a.m., 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Bater said he understands more people are at home than usual, but the restrictions don’t cover a large period of time where your vehicle must be moved.
