City Hall closing due to COVID-19 precautions; council meeting cancelled

Those planning to visit City Hall will want to make alternative plans for the immediate future. The City of North Battleford has announced City Hall will be closed to the public effective Monday due to COVID-19 precautions. As well, the city announced its council meeting planned for March 23 has been cancelled.

In a statement the city said during City Hall’s indefinite closure, employees will continue their usual work. Anyone with general inquiries can call the city’s main number at 306-445-1700.

The city said it is establishing these precautionary measures to protect employees and the public from exposure and the spread of COVID-19.

Payment options

All heavy-haul permits, parking fines, taxes, utility bills, accounts receivables and criminal record checks can be paid through the city’s website. Individuals and businesses can make their payments at this online link.

People can also have their utility bills and property taxes set up for automatic monthly direct-debit payments that are averaged for the year. The Water Installment Payment Plan Service (WIPPS) and the Tax Installment Payment Plan Service (TIPPS) forms can be accessed from this link.

Residents can submit their completed forms and a scan/high-quality image of void cheques by email. They are asked to send the WIPPS documents to ub@cityofnb.ca and TIPPS documents to taxes@cityofnb.ca.

Those who have to make payment by cheque can use the drop box at City Hall at the corner of 13 Ave. and 101 St., or send it by mail to: PO Box 460, North Battleford S9A 2Y6.

Utility Connections and Disconnections

Utility disconnections and connections can be completed by phone while City Hall is closed by calling 306-445-1700.

Permits and Business Licenses

Individuals looking to purchase permits and business licences can make arrangements by calling 306-445-1700.

Council Meetings

The city council meeting scheduled for Monday, March 23has been cancelled. The city said it is working to establish council meetings through electronic means with the assurance of providing accessibility to the public.

COVID-19 Information

The city is asking people to stay informed and “avoid misinformation, rumours and bad information” by accessing the most accurate and up-to-date information about the COVID-19 virus from the Government of Saskatchewan’s website.
