Gord Bamford coming to the Battlefords for #REDNEK Music Fest

Mar 3, 2020 | 4:19 PM

The Gold Eagle Casino will be home to one of country music’s biggest names this month, when Gord Bamford comes to town as part of his #REDNEK Music Fest Tour.

Bamford is one of the most decorated artists in country music today, with 26 Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA) awards and multiple Juno nominations, in addition to being the only two-time winner of Nashville’s Country Music Association (CMA) Global Country Artist of the Year award.

Bamford was born in Australia, but moved to Alberta when he was just five years old. He said it is always something special to come back home to the Prairies to perform, adding he’s also excited to return to the Battlefords for the first time in a long time.

“Being from the West and being able to travel across the Prairies and play is pretty awesome,” Bamford said. “We’re playing bigger centres, smaller centres [and] small towns; I haven’t played in the Battlefords for years so we just thought it would be a great stop and a perfect opportunity to get back there and play again. We have a whole bunch of great artists involved in the show and it’s going to be a great show that’s a lot of fun.”

Joining Bamford on the tour is multi-platinum Juno award winner, Jess Moskaluke and rising talent including Andrew Hyatt, Cory Marks, Duane Steele, Eric Ethridge, Ghost Boy and JoJo Mason.

All eight performers are Canadian, something the To Get to You singer takes pride in.

“Bringing all these artists along is just a great thing,” Bamford said. “I think we have such great talent here in Canada and to be able to showcase eight different artists that are Canadian and raised [here] is something I think we should all be proud of.”

North Battleford will serve as the third stop on the #REDNEK Music Fest, a tour spanning across Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia, with two additional stops in Manitoba and Ontario as well.

For Bamford, the tour will be his biggest yet as a headliner. Coming off nearly a full year writing music and being in the studio, Bamford said the tour is a celebration of Canadian talent and a chance for all ages to come together and enjoy a night out.

Doors will open at 8 p.m. with the show to begin at 9 p.m. on March 14 at the casino. For more information on the event, or to purchase tickets, click here.
