New preliminary inquiry dates are to be set for one of the two accused in the Mark Douglas Jonson homicide investigation.

The preliminary inquiry will determine if there is sufficient evidence for trial.

Nicolas Buck, 22, and David Keller, 47, each face a first-degree murder charge in Jonson’s homicide.

For Buck, the seven days that were previously set for Feb. 11, 12, 13, 18, 19, 20, and 24 for the preliminary inquiry for the first degree murder charge have now been cancelled, and will need to be re-set, according to the Courts of Saskatchewan spokesperson.

Buck’s case has been adjourned to Jan. 14 at 11 a.m. at North Battleford provincial court to be spoken to. It is expected new preliminary hearing dates will be scheduled at that time.

Crown prosecutor Steven Larocque previously said he anticipated a lengthy preliminary hearing. He expected up to 35 witnesses, comprised of 16 non-RCMP officers and 19 RCMP officers.

Co-accused David Keller is facing a five-day preliminary inquiry set for March 30, 31, April 1, 2 and 6 on the charge of first degree murder.

The Crown anticipated up to 33 witnesses comprised of 16 non-RCMP officers and 17 RCMP officers.

Jonson, 61, was found dead in a home on 15 Ave. and 100 St. in North Battleford on July 5, 2019.
