Update: 21-year-old dies after two-vehicle collision south of Lloydminster

Update: RCMP said the 21-year-old male driver was treated in hospital in Lloydminster before he was transported by STARS to Saskatoon where he was pronounced dead.

Police said no charges are pending and they will not release the name of the deceased.

One man was taken to hospital after a two-vehicle collision south of Lloydminster.

Officers from Maidstone were called to the scene five miles south of the Border City at around 7 a.m. on Highway 17.

An eastbound half-tonne GMC collided with a southbound five-tonne commercial box truck. The driver of the GMC was taken to hospital in Lloydminster and his condition is unknown at the time.

The driver of the five-tonne truck was not injured.

The highway was closed for several hours on Wednesday as collision reconstructionists were on scene.
