Farmers Market links community with local business

For the second-straight year, the Territorial Drive Farmers Market is open Friday’s throughout the summer from June 14 to Sept. 27 from 4 to 9 p.m. in the parking lot of Splish Splash Auto Wash.

Featuring food outlets and entertainment, event organizer Christine Vangool said the market features a variety of vendors and is an experience to be enjoyed.

“It’s a really fun market; we have food trucks and live music [as well as] the vendors,” she said. “It’s more than just stopping and shopping, you can sit down and enjoy your evening too. There’s somebody who bakes, somebody with vegetables, somebody that makes knitted things, and someone who does manicures and pedicures; so there’s quite a variety of vendors [too].”

Now entering its second year, Vangool said the goal of the event is to provide another outlet for local businesses to be explored, while also offering the community a fun atmosphere for an evening out the whole family can enjoy.

Both the vendors and entertainment featured at the market throughout the summer will be from the Battlefords and area.

Vangool said, the community support for the event “has been fantastic.”

“We’ve had lots of feedback of how much people enjoy coming and staying, and being part of the atmosphere,” she said. “It’s kind of like big city meets the country; we offer the hometown feel, but the entertainment and quality that you’re going to find in the city.”
