Stars’ coach extends for another two years

Battlefords North Stars coach, Brayden Klimosko has officially confirmed his commitment to remain in his role of head coach and general manager of the club to his option year of 2020-2021.

Klimosko, who joined the Battlefords’ organization in mid-June, is currently in his first year as head coach and general manager in the SJHL.

The Humboldt, Sask., native Klimosko had previous experience as assistant coach and assistant GM with his hometown Humboldt Broncos from 2013 to 2017.

Additionally, last season, Klimosko spent time in the Alberta Junior Hockey League, as an assistant coach with the Drumheller Dragons, helping lead the team to a 33-22-5 record on the season.

In his first taste of head coaching duties in the SJHL, Klimosko has lead the Battlefords to a 35-13-10 record, to clinch the top spot in the Global Ag. Risk Solutions Division, and the second seed overall heading into the post season.

When asked about news of Klimosko’s extention, Marketing and Office Manager with the team, Jennifer Whyte said she believes it’s a great move.

“I think it’s fantastic,” she said. “The boys really resonate with him, so I think it’s a great move for the team.”

The North Stars will begin their post season March 15 against the top Wildcard team, or highest seed remaining following the Survivor series’ between Flin Flon and Weyburn and Yorkton and Notre Dame.
