Quebec anti-corruption unit denies report that case is being delayed by Crown
MONTREAL — Quebec police authorities as well as the Crown have denied a media report alleging an investigation by the province’s anti-corruption unit targeting ex-Liberal party fundraisers is being delayed by public prosecutors.
Le Journal de Montreal reported Tuesday that sources told the newspaper that investigators are openly complaining about a lack of help from the Crown.
Quebec’s anti-corruption unit, known as UPAC, was reportedly planning to arrest people on three separate occasions in connection with the alleged fraud, but nobody has been arrested since Radio-Canada reported on the case in November 2016.
The investigation had already been launched before that report.
