Bantam Barons win provincial ‘A’ championship

Mar 28, 2018 | 12:00 PM

The Battlefords bantam Barons proved to be a scoring machine en route to the provincial ‘A’ final against Swift Current, and that didn’t change once they got there.

Thanks to their 6-2 win over the bantam Broncos in Swift Current Tuesday night, the Barons are provincial champions, winning the best-of-two finals nine goals to four.

Tyler Thunderblanket led the way in the clinching win with five assists, while Kobie Anderson had a goal and two assists and David Lightfoot had one goal and one assist. Kenzi Albert, Brandon Holhoyi, Luke Kowerchuk, and Jace Kramer also scored in the win.

The Barons managed to put 62 goals past their opponents in the eight provincial games they played, an average of nearly eight goals per game. They only gave up 19 goals in those games.

The teams Battlefords took down in the ‘A’ provincial bracket were Cudworth, Martensville, Warman, and, finally, Swift Current.
