BVC Impact win gold at third Sask Cup of season

Winning Tier I gold is nothing new for the Battlefords Volleyball Club (BVC) Impact 16-U women’s team.

They did so at the first Sask Cup of the season in late Janaury, topping the Sask Stealth in a nail-biting three-set match.

After winning bronze in the second Sask Cup Feb. 25, the Impact were hungry to climb back up the ladder at this past weekend’s third Sask Cup in Saskatoon and Warman. In the end they came out with another gold, this time coming from behind to top Saskatoon HVC in the Tier I gold medal match, the same team they beat for bronze one month ago.

The Impact dropped the first set 25-15, but then jumped out to a quick 10-3 lead to start the second set. They rode that early momentum towards a 25-18 win in the second set, evening the match at one set apiece. The third, deciding set was a one-point game halfway through, before BVC went on a 7-3 run when it mattered most to win the final set 15-10.
