North Stars’ Girard named SJHL player of the week

Jan 16, 2018 | 9:00 AM

This past week, the Battlefords North Stars came back from a 3-0 deficit against the top team in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League thanks to two goals from Brad Girard.

Following that performance against Nipawin, and another two points this weekend against Flin Flon, Girard was named SJHL player of the week.

The 5’5″ winger now has four goals and 11 assists for 15 points in 19 games this season.

He is also currently on a four-game point streak, with five points in those games.

Girard was acquired from the Yorkton Terriers earlier this season in exchange for a player development fee.

North Stars forward Matthias Urbanski was also runner-up for rookie of the week, after three points in three games.

The North Stars next game is Friday night on the road in Yorkton. They will then travel to Balcarres, Sask. on Saturday for a Hockey Day in Saskatchewan game against the Melville Millionaires.
