CPCA: Day 1 recap
The Canadian Professional Chuckwagon Association made the first stop of its race circuit in North Battleford Friday night.
Though a thunderstorm watch was in place, it cleared up just in time for the races and didn’t dampen the spirits of fans as they braved the weather and packed the stands.
Shortly before the event, the Battlefords saw just enough rain to dampen the racetrack and prevent dust from kicking up during.
Despite an early heat delay, things appeared to be holding up. But later in the evening, just as the race began, one of the outrider’s horses was spooked and kicked its rider in the face.
