High profile jazz musicians to play the Dekker Centre
Two musicians are coming to North Battleford this week that are bound to get the community jazzed up.
Renowned pianist, Tommy Banks, and CBC Radio 2’s Tim Tamashiro will be performing at the Dekker Centre on Friday, May 12.
Moe McGinty, who is in charge of Facility Rentals at the Dekker Centre, says the crowd is in for a great show. “There will be lots of stories and joking around, and a very intimate evening,” McGinty said. “If you want a couple words to describe the night, it’ll be a lot of fun and the music will be incredible.”
Beginning his jazz debut in 1950, Banks’ career has taken him all over North America, Central and Western Europe, Southeast Asia, and even Japan. He has also won several awards for his musical efforts including a Juno and Gemini, and he was inducted into the Edmonton Cultural Hall of Fame.
