Midget A Barons teams combine talent for provincials
With too many players for just one midget A Battleford Barons team this season, players from both squads have joined forces in the hopes of making a long run at the provincials.
So far, so good, as the provincial team defeated Unity in the second round of the ‘A’ midget provincial bracket after outscoring them 18-4 in two games. The team received a first round bye.
“Unity was a strong team but we’ve got a lot of skill,” midget A STEP and provincial assistant coach Owen Gentes said. “That provincial team, we’ve got three lines and all three of them would be a top line on any team, I believe.
“The depth in the lineup is our big advantage this year.”
