Police investigate stabbing in North Battleford

Aug 22, 2016 | 7:29 AM

Police are investigating a weekend stabbing on the east side of North Battleford.

According to the daily roundup from the RCMP for the period ending at 6 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 21, a male victim was stabbed early that morning. Officers were called just after 4 a.m. to Trudeau St. in the College Heights neighbourhood.

The victim was taken to hospital. There was no information provided about his age, or how seriously he was hurt.

The incident capped off a very busy 24-hour period for the Battlefords RCMP detachment, which responded to 107 calls for service, including 18 disturbance complaints, and 10 calls related to driving.

Several of the calls came from the city-owned David Laird Campground, where RCMP said several groups were kicked out Saturday. Members were also called to help Community Safety Officers break up a fight between several intoxicated people on 11th Ave. Saturday afternoon.

Among the more unusual calls, there was a complaint Saturday morning of sheep in a resident’s yard along Airport Rd.
