A male suspect has been arrested for assault with a weapon, following a late night incident in North Battleford.

The Battlefords RCMP detachment said officers were called at 10:50 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 11 to a reported assault, at a home on Winder Cres. in the city’s East neighbourhood.

That’s one of approximately 50 calls for service responded to by the detachment over the 24-hour period ending at 6 a.m. Friday, Aug. 12. Among them were several complaints of public drunkenness, including three people reported to be “causing problems” for a worker near the old bridges at 4:42 a.m.

At 12:22 a.m. RCMP received a complaint of youths rummaging through vehicles along Clark Dr., Douglas Ave., and Scott Dr. in the Confederation Park neighbourhood of North Battleford. The youths ran away when confronted by a resident, and were not found by police. In a separate incident, a stolen truck was reported speeding back and forth in an alley near the apartments on Winder Cres. at 9:13 a.m. Thursday. Police recovered the truck, but the thieves were gone.
