Heads Up for Healthier Brains

Mar 16, 2016 | 8:21 AM

You are invited to attend the Alzheimer Sociay of Saskatchewan’s Heads Up for Healthier Brains public forum tomorrow evening at Saskatoon City Hospital from 7-9 p.m. This forum is part of the Society’s Heads Up for Healthier Brains program, and aims to inform the public about the importance of brain health, lifestyle choices and ways to help lower the risk of developing dementia.

Each year the forum highlights a specific theme regarding brain health. This year’s theme is, “Myths and Realities of Aging, and How to Live Well to 100!,” and keynote speaker, Dr. Samir K. Sinha, Director of Geriatrics at Mount Sinai and the University Health Network Hospitals and Assistant Professor of Medicine at University of Toronto and Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine will discuss how understanding common myths and realities of aging can help us to live up to five years longer than others, and reduce our chances of developing diseases like Alzheimer’s or related dementias.

Prior to the formal program, from 6:30-7 p.m., Dr. Samir K. Sinha and representatives from the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan will be available for interviews.

Registration is free, but donations are appreciated. People may register at www.alzheimer.ca/sk or by calling 1-800-263-3367 or by contacting their local Telehealth coordinator.
