Battlefords North Stars head coach Brandon Heck entered the dressing room after Tuesday's overtime loss to Nipawin and didn't have much to say to his club.

Vikings basketball teams win 3 gold, 1 silver over weekend

The basketball season is now in full swing and all four of the North Battleford Comprehensive High School Vikings teams are starting to find their stride.

This past weekend, three of the four won gold, while the fourth team came away with a silver.

The North Stars are one point back of first place overall in the SJHL with 45 points, but they remain the top ranked SJHL team in the weekly CJHL top-20.

North Stars climb one spot in CJHL top-20

After a slight drop in last week's rankings, the Battlefords North Stars moved up from ninth to eighth in this week's Canadian Junior Hockey League top-20 rankings thanks to three straight wins.

It's the 11th straight week they've been a top-10 team in the country.

Kate Ball of the Prince Albert Northern Bears has a marvelous chance right on the doorstep during Sunday's game against the Sharks at Battleford Arena. Ball did not score on this opportunity, but had five assists in the two games against the Sharks.

Sharks nearly upset Bears; drop sixth straight

It was perhaps their strongest game of the season, yet the standings won't show it.

The Battlefords Sharks nearly took down the defending champion Prince Albert Northern Bears on Sunday afternoon, falling in the end by a score of 6-5.

Stars goaltender Joseph Young played both games this weekend, making a combined 74 saves on 79 shots.

AAA Stars keep steady at .500 following weekend with Trojans

The Battlefords AAA Stars split their doubleheader this weekend with the third-place Tisdale Trojans, whipping them 6-1 on Saturday before falling 4-1 on Sunday.

Thanks to Saturday's win, the Stars continue to hold down the eighth and final playoff spot with an 11-11 record.
