WDM invites all the Lords and Ladies for a trip back to Medieval times
Anyone wishing to experience a time before cutlery, or who already eats that way and wants to have dinner in public without being judged, will be interested in the Western Development Museum’s (WDM) Medieval Feast.
The event takes guests back to the renaissance era of Europe, where kings and queens would hold celebratory feasts. Everyone attending is asked to dress up in period clothing and according to WDM manager Joyce Smith, it is taken pretty seriously.
“We decorate in the medieval themes along with a four course meal that you have to eat with your hands,” Smith said. “Usually it starts out as a salad then you move on to a meat dish. There is the head table with a king and a queen who can throw you into the stocks if they deem you’ve misbehaved.”
Anyone the royalty wants put into the stocks will be escorted by the executioner and locked up where they stay until they perform a task for the king and queen’s entertainment. According to Smith someone needs to buy the prisoners freedom or a song or joke may be required before they’re set free, but prisoners can expect to be hit with a tomato or two.
