Local shelters ready to accommodate anyone in need
As the city remains locked in an Arctic deep-freeze and temperatures drop below -40C at night, no one should be outside for too long and The Lighthouse has its doors open, ready for those in need.
According to general manager Kerry Reimer, there is more than enough supplies for anyone who finds themselves out on the street on a cold night.
“We saw a lot of people come in before Christmas and now that the cold weather has hit, we actually have room for more people,” Reimer said. “It could be just for a short warm-up or coffee, or even a meal.”
Reimer adds there are also many open beds for anyone who needs a place to spend the night.
