Grzybowski’s WHL rights traded to Victoria

Dec 8, 2017 | 2:09 PM

It’s easy to jump to conclusions when a player gets traded.

But after Battlefords North Stars goaltender Joel Grzybowski’s Western Hockey League rights were moved from Saskatoon to Victoria on Friday, North Stars head coach Brandon Heck said nothing has changed.

“I don’t have [a reaction],” Heck said when asked his thoughts on the move. “We’ll see if it changes anything, but right now it doesn’t.”

For now, Grzybowski and Taryn Kotchorek will continue to be the two North Stars goaltenders this season.

Kotchorek will start Friday’s game in La Ronge, with Grzybowski ‘probably’ starting on Saturday, also against the Ice Wolves.

The 18-year-old Grzybowski, a native of Hafford, has a 3-0 record this season for Battlefords, with a .915 save percentage and 2.32 goals-against-average. He made six WHL appearances for the Blades, posting a 4.31 G.A.A and .841 save percentage.

NorSask North Stars hockey will go live on Friday at 7:15 p.m. with the Ultra Print pre-game show, with puck drop set for 7:30 p.m.
