Round two of battle of the ‘Fords
The Battleford Trappers will look for a better result tonight when they play the North Battleford Beavers in Senior Men’s Baseball League action at the Ken Nelson Field.
The Trappers (2-6) will look to avenge a 7-2 loss to the Beavers (5-2-1) last Thursday night and put the brakes on a six-game losing streak. Only the winless Midwest Expos (0-8) have had a longer streak of futility this season. The Edam Blue Sox began the season 0-6-1 before winning their first game of the season last Tuesday.
The Trappers deserved a better fate on Thursday night, however clutch hitting by the Beavers saw timely hits in the sixth and seventh innings to blow a close game wide open.
“It’s a tough line-up to face,” Mike Ross of the Trappers said. “[There’s] a lot of solid players on that team who can make you pay when you make a mistake.”
