Help from the public leads to vehicle thieves’ arrest
Social media played a role in the arrest of three people after a vehicle theft in the North West of the province.
According to Maidstone RCMP, on Jan. 18 around 7:45 p.m., a member of the public spotted a stolen vehicle identified from Facebook on Township Road 504 in the RM of Britannia; northeast of Lloydminster.
Police located the vehicle, however when officers attempted a traffic stop the suspects fled. The vehicle was located a short time later in a ditch near St. Walburg. Three adults were subsequently arrested.
On March 3, 22-year-old Branden Dillon of Onion Lake was convicted and sentenced to six months in jail for obstructing a police officer, possession of stolen property and failure to comply with a probation order.
