Veronica Horacki passed away peacefully on June 20, 2020 at the Battleford’s District Care Centre at the age of 84. Veronica was born on January 31, 1936 in Pilger, Saskatchewan to Adam and Elizabeth (nee Wourms) Dobmeier. She grew up in a family with 13 brothers and sisters. She became a sister with the Roman Catholic Church before leaving and marrying Stefan Horacki. They had three children Joseph, Andrew and Denise. Veronica was a homemaker and loved to bake and garden. She made homemade bread every week and was known for her cinnamon buns. She was also a crafty person making many things around the home, including costumes for every event. She was especially proud of her garden and patio area where she spent many evenings admiring her hard work. In 2004, Veronica had surgery for a brain aneurysm and due to complications she didn’t return home. She made her new home at the Battleford’s District Care Centre. Although extremely difficult, Veronica learned to enjoy life to its fullest. She enjoyed music, mass and other activities for the residents. She especially looked forward to daily visits from Stefan and her son Andrew and his fury friend Max. Despite being a very quiet person, she was known for her big smile, occasional squeal and infectious laugh. Left to cherish her memory: two sons: Joe (Rebecca) and Andrew; daughter Denise (Jody) Hauta; her three grandchildren: Nicolas & Cassidy Hauta & Maverick Horacki; her siblings Raymond, Sr. Philomena, Sylvester (Loretta), Margaret (Ivan) Clandenon and Bertha Szautner; and many nieces and nephews.
