Ralph Lloyd Johnston of Maymont, SK, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 25, 2026, at the age of 74 years.
He leaves behind his sister Helena (Randall) Bell; niece Roxane Bell; and nephew Jim (Mellissa) Bell; as well as great nephews Aidan and Caelan Bell.
Ralph is predeceased by his father James L. Johnston and mother Nellie L. Johnston.
Ralph’s life revolved around mechanics, truck driving and his health.
Growing up on the farm, Ralph became very interested in machinery. He learned to drive tractors and vehicles at an early age. He also learned that repairs were a fact of life on the farm. That set the foundation of his life.
Working in northern Saskatchewan early in life sparked his interest in driving semis and large equipment. The year 2026 marked 50 years of truck driving.
In July 1993, an event happened that radically changed Ralph’s destiny. He had a serious heart attack. He was 40 years old. He had emergency bypass surgery and was diagnosed with Coronary Artery Heart Disease which led to 9-10 stents over the years. After that Ralph was on a mission to be in good health.
Ralph was willing to help others, compassionate, and often voiced his appreciation for the help he received from family, friends, those he worked with and community. Medical personnel appreciated how he constantly thanked them for the help they gave him. He rarely complained and one nurse mentioned he actually didn’t complain enough.
We will miss him and the sly smile he gave when he experienced something humorous.
Ralph is now joyfully at home with his Saviour and Lord.
Special thanks to the doctor, nurses and staff at St. Paul’s Hospital who were so caring and compassionate to Ralph.
Due to unforeseen circumstances the family regretfully has to cancel the Celebration of Life Service.
Arrangements entrusted to Dalmeny Funeral Home 306-254-2022.
