Paul Checkosis
“Ahtahkoop”
He was the oldest out of his brothers. They played baseball and hockey. Everyone knew the Checkosis Boys. He never owned a vehicle, he owned horses. If he could ride, he would. He didn’t know how to raise girls so he raised us like boys. We were as tough as our brother, we didn’t use bandaids, we rubbed dirt and got back up. He protected us, taught us how to ride and how to tell tall stories. He made friends everywhere he went. His favorite story was when he went on a trail ride in the states and he said “who is this dummy? he doesn’t even know how to ride” then he found out it was Viggo Mortensen (Aragorn) from Lord of the Rings. Ever since then he would say he went on a trail ride with his friend Aragorn from Lord of the Rings. We will miss his presence as a dad, a brother, a musom, an uncle, a cousin and as a friend.
Paul is survived by his children; Reinetta (Calvin), Kirsten (Quillon), Sonya, Kyle, Kesikow, Paula, Tianna and Jessica. His adopted son; Eddie III Standinghorn. His brothers; Wayne (Doreen), Lester, Richard (Priscilla), Victor Jr, Barry (Corlene), Myron and Clint (Marcella). His extended family; Joe Pahtayken and family and Fletcher Noon. Along with his Grandchildren, nieces, nephews, aunties and uncle.
Predeceased by his parents Victor and Mary Louise Checkosis. His brothers; Kenny and one in infancy. Adopted brother Earl Bull. Paternal Grandparents Fred and Julia (Baptiste) Checkosis. Maternal Grandparents George Noon and Mary Meetoos-Noon
