Norman Lorne Doucette

December 16, 1944 – October 4, 2020

 

It is with sadness the family of Norman Doucette announce his passing on October 4, 2020 at the age of 75 years.

Norm is survived by his loving wife Shirley, children: Shelley (Grant) Goller, Trona Doucette (Rick Bueckert) and Trent (Dana) Doucette, his grandchildren: Lane Goller (Danielle Higgins), Cole Goller (Alexandra Parsley), Brett Goller, Maya Doucette, Kelsey Doucette and great grandson: Eli Goller, his brother Roy (Pat) Doucette, his sister Isabel (Ed) Dobry, his sister-in-law Joan Doucette, his brothers-in-law Melvin Sheehan, Gordon (Shirley) Sheehan, Bryce (Tammy) Sheehan, Sheldon Sheehan (Barb), Dale Sheehan, and Mark Lacerte, his sisters-in-law Evelyn (John) Tokio, Joanne (Jerry) Peltier, Marilyn Sheehan, (John Klassen) also numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents Irene & Henry Doucette, his parents-in-law Ethel & Bob Sheehan, his brother Lavern Doucette, his sister Verna Doucette, his nephew Brent Colclough, his sisters-in-law Margaret Lacerte & Donna Prince, his brothers-in-law Bobby Sheehan & Walter Prince.

Norman was born in Rosthern, SK and he grew up on the family farm at Mildred, SK.  He attended school in Mildred and Mirror Lake.  Norman worked in BC during the 1960’s doing various jobs in the lumber industry, construction and finally the railway.  It was during this time that he met the love of his life Shirley (nee Sheehan), they were married in 1968.  They lived in Lillooet, BC, while living in Lillooet their daughter Shelley was born.  In the fall of 1970, Norman followed his dream of becoming a farmer and returned to the Mildred district.  During the 1970’s their daughter Trona and son Trent were born.  Norman took great pride in mixed farming and loved working the land and caring for his cattle.  He remained interested in farming all of his life.  Parkinson’s disease became part of his life in his 50’s but he continued to live life to the fullest.  Norman loved family life and enjoyed many good times with his children, grand-children and great-grand child, as well as his siblings.  Norman leaves many family and friends to cherish his memory of a gentle fun-loving man.  He will be greatly missed.

A graveside service took place on Friday October 9, 2020 – 1:00 pm at the Mildred South Cemetery with Pastor Sarah Urano officiating.

Donations may be made to the Parkinson’s Society in memory of Norman Doucette as tokens of remembrance.
