Velma Paddy passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family Sunday, January 28, 2024 at the Battlefords Union Hospital at the age of 54 years. Velma will always be remembered as fun, loving and caring. She was always courageous right from birth and even during her sickness she portrayed the signs of a true fighter. Throughout all of that she still managed to shine bright like a diamond and maintained her contagious laughter. She was very family orientated. She showed love to everyone around her, especially her 2 sons: Shannon and Rueben; her only granddaughter, Alexis and the children she raised as her own: Adriel, Alaine and her baby, Alora all of who will carry on her legacy for eternity. This devastating loss that we feel in our hearts must not show as grief or hardship but instead as positivity and love as she will want us to continue to live our lives to the fullest, everyday possible.
Velma is survived by her loving sons: Shannon and Rueben; granddaughter, Alexis; she raised her late niece, Morningdove’s kids who she loved like her own: Adriel, Alaine and her baby, Alora; mom, Annie Susan Benson; siblings: Barb, Ruby (Lenny), Rachel, Marilyn, Crystal, Keane, Adam Smallchild (Lorrinda), Dwayne, DeeAnn and Russell Bear. She was predeceased by her paternal grandparents: Samuel Paddy and Katie Paul; maternal grandparents: Edward and Geneieve Horse; father, Dick Adam paddy; siblings: Elaine and Melvin; three nephews: Justin, Conway and Brett and niece, Morningdove Paddy.
