Ethel was born in Matheson Ontario, an identical twin with Elsie. Their mother Elsie Annie Waldron passed giving birth to them. Ethel’s life changed at the age of seven when their home burned down. The family boarded a train in Ontario and moved to White Rock, British Columbia to start a new life. Ethel was very active in the church growing up. At the age of sixteen Ethel decided to go to work full time at the BC telephone company. A career she was proud of and talked a lot about. This provided funds to help her parents and be out on adventures with her twin sister Elsie on shopping adventures in Vancouver and Seattle, Washington in her Volkswagen Beetle. Ethel enjoyed fashion and her keen sense led her to her love of sewing, often most of her clothes in these years were purchased patterns and she loved to be well dressed at her BCtel job and wear her newest creations at church. Ethel married Afe Allen Brown on August 27, 1966 in White Rock B.C. Allen and Ethel moved to Surrey, and there, their first son, Joel was born on October 12, 1967. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Kamloops, and their second son, Paul, was born on May 5, 1969. Less than a year later, Allen took a pastoring job in Maymont, SK, and the family moved out to the prairies. In the mid-1970’s, the family moved to the Battlefords, where Allen pastored at the Foursquare Church and Ethel played the piano. On April 6, 1977, their third son, Peter, was born. During these years raising the three boys Ethel was a homemaker helping provide wonderful family memories and supported Allen with the music ministry. Ethel decided to go back to work in 1990 at the Super 8 hotel. She finished her head housekeeper duties at the age of 70, retiring in 2005.
Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to Vanessa Macnab of Eternal Memories Funeral Service and Crematorium.
