It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Yvonne Nielsen who passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, on July 9, 2026, at Harwood Manor, at the age of 90.
Yvonne was born on January 18, 1936. She shared 62 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Lawrence Nielsen, who predeceased her in 2017. Together they built a loving home and raised a family that remained the center of her life.
Yvonne will be lovingly remembered by her children: Shelly (Richard), Randy (Natasha), Lori (Jerry), Barbara (Bernard), and Tracie. She was a proud grandmother to Brett, Kori (Shawn), Tyler (Jessica), Kristopher, Ryan, Andrew, James, Emily (Merritt), Riley (Kelsey), Derek (Kim), Kyle (Sarah), Dustin (Stephanie), Cody (Kristin), and Lexi, and a cherished great-grandmother to 17 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her grandson, Jordy and her great-grandson, Caiden.
She is also survived by her sisters, Muriel and Joyce along with many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Yvonne dedicated 25 years to the Girl Guides of Canada, where she enjoyed mentoring and inspiring young people-many who still ask about her. She found great joy in knitting and sewing, creating countless handmade treasures for family and friends. Some of her happiest memories were made while camping with her children, and nothing brought her greater happiness than spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
One of the family’s fondest memories is of summers spent around the backyard swimming pool, where everyone gathered to enjoy laughter, sunshine, and one of Mom’s famous root beer floats. It was a simple tradition that brought the family together and created memories that will be cherished forever.
Yvonne will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion to her family. Her love was the foundation of her family, and her legacy will live on through the many lives she touched and the cherished memories she leaves behind.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Harwood Manor for the care, kindness, and dignity they showed Yvonne throughout her time there.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Yvonne’s memory may be made to the Harwood Manor Recreation Department, 2691 Clements Drive, North Battleford, Saskatchewan.
