Mrs. Therese Dexter

Therese Dexter (née Blanchette), 83, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2026, in Kelowna, British Columbia, surrounded by her loving family. She fought a courageous fifteen-year battle with cancer and passed peacefully.
Born on October 29, 1942, in Edmonton, Alberta, Therese was raised in North Battleford, Saskatchewan. After completing high school, Therese worked in a variety of roles. Her longest and most meaningful professional years were spent working for the Federal Government, first for Unemployment Insurance and later spent sixteen years with the RCMP.
Therese met Gerry “Porky” Dexter while they were in high school. They married in 1963 and welcomed their daughter Candyce in 1964 and their son Sean in 1970. Together, they built their life in North Battleford while Gerry worked primarily at the local Ford dealership. In 2000, Therese and Gerry moved to Kelowna, a place they truly loved. They enjoyed many happy years there together until Gerry’s passing in 2021.
Therese was predeceased by her husband Gerry “Porky” Dexter; her daughter Candyce; her parents, Romeo and Delia Blanchette; her brother Gerry Blanchette and his wife Johanna; and her sister-in-law, Vivian Dexter.
She is survived by her son Sean (Chrissy); her grandchildren Jaedyn, Noah, Josh, and Rylee; her granddaughter Brook (Luke) Vogrinetz; her brother-in-law Raymond and his daughters Lana and Carol; and her niece Kim and nephew Jason.
A loving mother and grandmother, Therese was known as a fierce defender of those she loved. Her loyalty to family was unwavering, and her strength of character left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her. Therese will be cremated. At her request, there will be no service. She will be deeply missed.
